...quite developed.? His teachers comment on how bright he is but are recommending that he is held back in 1st grade due to the fact that it takes him more time to complete his classwork. I have been dealing with this issue since kindergarten the problem is that I am afraid that if he is held back that he will become bored. He has a tendency to become lazy if he is not pushed. His birth-date is 09/08/03 and he is the youngest in his class. Most students in his school are held back 1 year and they are more advanced. There has been no dispute in his capabilities except for the fact that there is more writing in 2nd grade and the teachers are afraid that he will not be able to keep up. His motor skills are slower than most kids fine and gross motor skills but he understands his work. Please help.
