you need to consider the adult size of the fish you buy before you buy them
bala shark=10 inches
iradesant=48 inches
siver dollar=five inch
rainbow shark=6 inch
pictus=5 inch
plecoes=20 inches
knife fish=34 inch
dragon gobie=24 inch
rocket gar=36 inch
plus silver dollars are schooling fish.
you should be cleaning once a week but you would still be grossly overstocked,
what are you nitrite/nitrate readings?

your other shark is an iridescent shark and it will need a very large tank as it grows. iridescent sharks will grow to be well over 2 feet long. bala sharks will grow to be about 12 inches long. right now your tank is on the brink of being over stocked, but it will be okay if you do more frequent water changes. also you should definitely be doing gravel vacs more often than once a month. at the very least twice a month. the reason you do a gravel vac is to remove fish waste. fish waste causes nitrates which kill fish. imagine if you will, if it was up to somebody else what the quality of air you breathe is.
