my 5 yrs dog died yesterday due to fits. can a dog dies due to fits?

at first he had vomitted the food and we had taken him to a vet and he told that he is suffering from acute pancreatitis and gave him saline and medications and told him not to give water or food and the next day he got fits and we had taken him to hospital again and had given dns & rl saline and given him calcium inj and we took him homeand at midnight he cried due to pain and his stomach was swollen i rushed and had given rantac inj he got fits and finally died in my hands does a dog can die due to fits? and i missed him a lot
