My 2006 Mazda 5 has trouble shifting from Park to Drive?

My Mazda 5 will not shift out of Park to drive. I have to restart the car, then press verrrry hard on the brake when I restart then it releases. Otherwise, it will just stay in Park, not neutral, drive, reverse, anything. It has 75,000 miles on it so its past warranty. I have to get it fixed but I don't want to get ripped off right before Xmas.

Brake pedal sensor is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.
