...dies after a few seconds.? Hello!
My 2005 Ford Econoline Van (100,000 miles) decided not to start this evening. It's always started perfectly, and hasn't given me a single problem in the last year.
The engine cranks just fine, but the engine won't fully catch. It'll catch and barely idle--just barely hanging on. Like it's been given just a whiff of gas. After five or ten seconds, it quits. It certainly wouldn't drive during that five or ten seconds.
If I crank it again, it turns over fine--but the same thing happens: it won't catch, then catches and idles just a bit . . . barely hanging on. Then dies.
I'm pretty sure this is a common problem, because I seem to remember other cars doing the same thing.
I do know these things: it's not low on gas and the battery is fine. The gauges don't show anything abnormal, as far as I can tell.
So . . . what's your diagnosis? TIA for any ideas!
