You need to replace the cam sensor AND SYNCHRONIZER assembly as well to repair your problem. This problem is very common on Ford Tauruses as well (they both share the same 3.0L V6 engine). The correct part number for the part you need from Ford is DA-2089 (F8DZ-12A362-AA). What happens is the shaft inside the body of the synchronizer sludges up and binds. Installation of this part requires exact orientation as removed, failing which will result in further driveability issues. There is a special alignment tool that exists specifically for this repair. Hope this helps.

My 2003 ford ranger sputters, shakes when I accelerate and when the AC is on, it is even worst. It is fine when it is idol. The check engine light is on. The code said camshaft position censor. I replaced it and the light is still on and still comes up with the camshaft position censor code. What else could be the problem?
