My 2001 mazda tribute keeps blasting a hole in the egr valve. Any ideas as to the cause?

Also the car runs great with a new egr and i'm quite mechanically inclined and i can't find any problems. I've never heard of this and neither has my mechanic friends. if anyone has any experience with this it would be great.
