My 2001 Jeep Cherokee starts really rough idle and then dies within seconds?

It has been sitting in our driveway for about two months because we have another car and we couldn't afford to get the catalytic converter fixed on it. Anyways....thats been replaced, but now the jeep won't really start. Battery says it is charged and sometimes it will start, sputter and then run really rough for a few seconds and then die. What could this be???? sometime told me fuel filter clog...is that something we can change ourselves???? help! We just want to get it running so we can trade it in and get something newer.
we've replaced coil and spark plugs too..forgot to mention that. We can not even get it to run to drive it to a mechanic at this point...it stalls out and dies after a few seconds.

Sounds like it is misfiring because of bad Spark plugs, spark plug wires, or the coil pack. If you replaced the plugs with Champion, remove those because they were problematic with me.
