My 2001 Ford Taurus needs about $1300 worth of work done on it. Should I fix it?

I am in my last semester of grad school and will graduate in May and start work at as physical therapist. The mechanic says that the only result of continuing to drive my car without fixing it is it will be very noisy. Should I get it fixed or just wait til I start a real job and get a new car? My a/c is also broken in the car.
There is a spring broken in the front left and back right. That is all I know! Not car savvy! And I am not sure what is wrong with the AC yet. It happened at the end of the summer so I just put up with it knowing that I would be able to get a new car at the beginning of summer.
