has a tranny leak..
im worried the tranny might blow soon it has 166,200 miles
how much would it cost to have a new transmission built?

Just like the other guy said most likely it just needs a new seal now if your worried the trannys going to blow just because it has a leak you need to check the level of the tranny fluid and make sure its not too low. when its low add some of the right fluid. you can do that until you get it fixed now if the trannys shifting hard and making noise and doesnt want to shift sometimes then you need to worry about the tranny giving out. I have 2 jeeps with over 200000 miles on them on the original tranny. its expensive about 75 buck but take it somewhere have the tranny drained and resealed and refilled and that shop shold be able to tell you if your tanny is ok or not mainly by the color of the fluid. you do what you gotta do so its your choice
hope this helps

Where is it leaking from? Its not uncommon to develop a leak in the pan seal over time. Just needs to be drained, resealed and filled.

To answer your question, a rebuild is probably going to run you $800-2000 depending on the shop. You will spend more for a shop that does reputable work and offers a warranty.
