...engine it sounds fine though ? i have a 1998 dodge and the oil pressure dropped one day while on the freeway and the engine started to sound weird i had it towed and i parked it for a month i went out one day and started it for no reason and it kicked back again every mechanic i spoke with said that there is no point of just replacing the oil pump might as well replace the engine but it sounds fine it is not knocking or ticking but i have not actually took it to a mechanic because i don't want them to try and swindle me sow what do you think i should do

It's possible that your oil pump went. How did you come to that conclusion? If your oil pressure light came on whilst driving, there are other things that can cause that besides the oil pump. For example, low engine oil level, badly worn engine bearings, plugged oil galleries, etc. Which is why throwing a part at it probably won't fix your problem. The exact cause of the low oil pressure condition needs to be found.
Besides, if you heard weird noises coming from the engine after running with low oil pressure, it is already too late. The engine will be damaged, and that's a guarantee. That is why when you see the low oil pressure light, you must stop the engine immediately, BEFORE you hear any weird noises, and get a tow. But it doesn't sound like you did that, so now you have big trouble. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(
