My 1997 Dodge Caravan smells like gas, but I don't see any leak?

My car is a 1997 Dodge caravan. Everytime I turn the car on, there is a terrible smell of gas. But when the car is off, no smell at all! Any suggestions of what is happening and how to fix it?
