Hey! I bought a 96' Grand Am GT about 3 months ago... Just recently the head gasket went out (I think) and white smoke started dumping out of my exhuast. The guy at the shop is telling me I have no compression and a gasket is blown or maybe even possibly a cracked head.. He's suggesting I put a whole new motor in it.
Take in that I know very little about the mechanical side of vehicles... I bought the car for 1500. Should I just have him replace the gasket? Should I pay whatever he says to dump this new engine in? Should I sell the car and find something else?
