my 1996 dodge stratus cranks will hard, bat is good tried to boost bat still very hard

crank, won't start? My dodge will not start, very hard cranking, battery good, have 1/2 tank a gas, the car was just running the day before, I put it in the garage for the night, came out the next morning and this happened. I smell some electric burning on drivers side which I know is not good
