I went outside to leave for work this morning, got in the car, turned the key, heard a click, and the car did not attempt to turn over whatsoever. The battery has charge as I am getting power to my lights and radio, etc. (it better, the battery was just replaced a few months ago!).

Now, I've researched that with starters, it usually goes out over time, so I'm fairly certain that is not the problem. I have had this exact problem once before, about a year ago. It turned out that the computer inside my dash that reads the microchip in my key had gone out. $300 later, the car was running.

My question is this: is there anything else that can cause the above symptoms or could it be the microchip reader again?

Thank you!

If it was your microchip the car would not turn over. Check the terminals on the battery , make sure they are tight. If you did that , check the electrical system and the starter. You could have a short. Once you do all that and still nothing. take it to your mechanic , could be your computer on the car. Good Luck
