it has about 153,000 miles..i just changed the oil and i always put octane booster in it everytime i fill up..its like a ticking noise coming from the middle of the engine at idle..
if it is the valve lifters..what can i do to fix it??

Check your oil level. It could also be the valves hitting the head of your engine. If it has a lot of miles, which I am assuming it has a good amount, it is a normal case for engine ticking. You could also try putting an octane booster in your gas tank the next time you refuel. Lower octane gas tends to cause detonation in worn engines. Increasing the octane may reduce the ticking and pinging you are hearing. If it doesn't go away after that, you may need to see an engine specialist.

lots of things any thing from simple change your oil to a lifter stick to a rod knock or maybe a bad pullie
