My 1992 toyota corolla just started this today, the temp gage is going up and down drastically. it is very cold outside and the temp gage is all the way at the c when i am driving with the heater on. But when i am idle it will raise up to almost the halfway mark. And it also usually runs right above the c never on it. The fan also wasnt coming on after a while of idaling and the temp gage was at the half way and even when im driving it dosent come on. It isnt overheating but i am unsure how much i can trust my temp gage when it is being that unpredictable. What could be wrong with it.
