My 1992 Toyota Camry is sputtering.?

I have the V6 1992 Toyota Camry. Recently it started sputtering and previous to me noticing the sputtering my gas mileage has been decreasing. I may have just not noticed the sputtering previously due to crack in my muffler. There is also a heavy smell of gasoline which can be smelled from the interior of the car when traveling at low speeds. The car is sending out so much gas in fact that people behind me in their car can smell it.
Thus far I have:
-Replaced the gas filter (which was rather dirty)
(Note: the Charcoal canister was overflowing)
-Changed my oil (which was a month overdue)
(Note: my car had burned an unusually large amount of oil)
-Tested all of my spark plug wires
-Examined all of my spark plugs
(Note) the front spark plugs were white, however the back 3 were blackened
-Replaced the distributor cap and rotor

As it stands my car has gone from roughly 24 MPG city to 12, the acceleration is horrible, and in comparison to usual driving I have to give it a lot of gas to move from a stop.

Another note is that I tested the rear spark plug wires with a continuity checker as well as testing to see if they sparked using a tool which flashes when the wires have enough current going through them to create a large enough electromagnetic field. The cylinders in the back fired roughtly 1/10 as much as those in the front, which I assume is the cause of my lack of power and gas mileage. I need to know what possible things I could potentially do myself before taking it to a shop.

Thanks,
John
