about 4 months ago i got a this bike from a friend and he had said that the only thing this bike needed was a new carb so i bought the carb and it started and then turned off so then when i kicked it over and over it just didn't want to turn on. so asked my friend and he said to try to push start the bike to see if it would even turn on and so we tried this and it worked but this was the only way to get it working. what could be the problem . i already got a new carb, new fuel, new filter . and the spark plug works . so i have every basic thing down to get it started but it doesn't. i had been Reading on here that it could be that i need to replace my pistons.gaskets and Other parts basically the whole top end can someone help ?

Most likely will need a top end rebuild (cylinder, piston & rings).
2 stroke engines require rebuilds quite often, 2 years max.
There isn't enough compression to start it with the kick start.
But by push starting, the piston is moving at a greater speed and for a longer time, giving the fuel more chances to eventually ignite and start the engine.
