my 1982 monte carlo wouldnt start no power in side the car.so i tried boosting it

I don't really get it what you mean, even though English is my second language. It seems like you have a bad terminal, or a bad connection. If I were you I would disconnect the battery cable, and clean it real good with battery terminal cleaner, and hook it back to the battery, but make sure you have to connect it well.

off? it wouldnt and then it started up. i hit the booster cables togather no fire and then it the battery had fire

hard to understand what u are saying...

but if i get it correctly...sounds like dirty or loose battery cable ends....
