My 11 yr. old son is being accused of stealing a bike?

but he doesn't even have the bike. It is a Wal-mart bike that had been spray painted black. A kid in our neighbor hood gave him the bike and I didn't think anything of it since the bike wasn't in that good of shape. Now the officer wants to press charges on him. He no longer has the bike because it disappeared from the front on our house. The officer has no serial number nor is the owner able to identify the bike. Its all circumstantial evidence. What should I do? My son didn't know that the bike was stolen.

How can you be sure your son did not know it was stolen? Kids often lie when they think they have been caught doing something wrong. You need to let him be scared somewhat just in case he ever thinks about stealing, remembering this may keep him honest.

go to court and you will win if it goes to that but your son should prob of known a spray painted bike is 99% of the time a stolen bike
