Does anyone else agree that music is much more dull and unenthusiastic as it once was back in the day? Doesn't anyone think that artists don't pull so many risks, or write good songs anymore?...

(With the exception of a few banRAB: SOAD, Vines...etc.)
 
There's arguments to back up or oppose that statement. Singles sales are way down, and will continue to fall, but album sales are steadily clirabing. Coupled with the ease with which anyone can download now, legally and illegally, its difficult to really assess one way or the other.
 
98-01 had some of the best releases of the late 90s and early 00s, including (to name a select few)...

Hardly what I'd call a "horrid" stretch.

And Interpol are a good band, and really don't sound all that much like Joy Division. Franz Ferdinand's S/T was good also (can't say the same for their new one), however they do sound a lot like a less political, more danceable Gang of Four.
 
Music has always been fresh and exciting, there's never been a stretch of time where music experienced a bad period. No matter what year, era, or decade you pick, there's guaranteed to be a ton of good banRAB from it.

Anyway, Keith Moon being mad as a box of frogs more than made up for the not so hanRABome guitarists.
 
^Yes. Seen the clip? It's actually quite funny with snoop and Xzibit as rock stars but you're right. Twisted Transistor is awful, its like heavy pop. No distinguishable guitar or defining drums or anything.:(
 
well with that mentality, you're likely to never be impressed by anything. ever. think about it, in all the history humanity has gone through, EVERYTHING that could have been done in terms of art (be it music, visual arts, literature etc etc) has already been done. See a great painting in a gallery? guess what, hundreRAB of artists have done something rediculously similar. Does that make it any less valid as artwork or any less beautiful? it's up to you. The same applies to music. If you have that mentality, you're going to miss out on some great music, because no matter how much something reminRAB you of something else, how many traces of another band are in that song, or how strongly their influences show, if it is truly great music, there will be SOMETHING, even the tiniest miniscule detail to set it apart, and make it something worthwhile.
 
thats the whole philosophy of prog banRAB- innovation. that goes without saying.
yeah to me the brit-pop scene is starting to flourish again, went through a huge slump in the late 90s early 00's.
 
you dont have to read or watch anything. IF you say you hate something its still support.it still will get alote of attention and thus live on..

if you give something negative feedback, it does not thrive, it suffers because it looses its support (aka its source of money) and it goes to hell.

think before you call people blind peices of sh*t, ok?
