Music Production?

If i want to become a music producer what are some things i could do now to make me better for when i'm done with college?
Like if you want to become a baseball player you practice baseball.......Catching the drift?
 
You need a good ear for good music..Buy a beat machine, and practice making some beats. When you get better, you can go to local open mic nights, and find some artists to work with. Good luck.
