Music is music people! Let people listen to what they want to! You shouldn’t have to change yourself to fit under a certain label.
Personally I don’t listen to Avril Lavigne; I don’t like how edited her voice is, but come on people. This Anti-Avril thing is getting really fucking annoying. For one, I’d much rather hear a little girl say she like Avril Lavigne then say they liked Britney Spears, because she’s not a Barbie doll. Also, people are going to like what they like, why should t be so bad that someone like her music?
I haven’t really given Simple Plan or Good Charlottes music a chance, but I know someone who loves them, and for some reason people think this makes him a poser. Posing as what? That’s one thing I don’t understand. Another is this; punk is supposed to rebel again society, I don’t believe it does that anymore. It’s just another part of society now. If punk was still punk, then wouldn’t someone who listens to what they like and acts how they want, regardless of what a small group of society thinks, be more punk then those who say their punk because they listen to only what that group of people says is punk? So how does listening to what you like make you a poser? What are you posing as.. Yourself?! Think people! Seriously!
Stop harassing people for being themselves! Music is music, let people listen to what they want to listen to!

whatever, guys. she's shy of 15; let her rant, or even placate her by pointing out that most 15-yr-olds aren't that articulate or observant.

"posing as what" has always been my favourite question with which to respond to "poser" accusations.

listening to that music doesnt make him a poser, thinking its punk sure as fuck does, avril lavigne is just as bad as everyone else in the mainstream...WHY?? cuz she is a wanna be fucking punk rocker loser bitch, and shes hot as hell and she pretty much is a fucking little barbie doll, music is dead....BECAUSE ITS ABOUT THE FUCKING IMAGE NOT THE GOD DAM MUSIC and im sorry but idiots like you who think they are making some great statement and wouldnt know what real music was if it bit them in the ass just need to STFU and so do i or else this is gonna get really long

did i say he thought he was punk?? he doesnt dress punk, he doesnt act punk, he doesnt say his music is punk. he gets harassed simply for listening to the music he likes!
i hate when people say "real music" because its all a matter of opinion. there is no fake music. as i said before, music is music.

no idiot real music is when the music matters more than the image, and although there have been a couple bands to come through in my opinion is that the last real thing in music was nirvana...even though i dont really listen to them all that much, they were real music and pretty much with kurt cobains death, well music died for the last 10 years

yes, alot of the music thats being pumped out today is just the same old shit recycled. and yeah, nirvana was a brilliant band, kurt cobian was a genius, and yeah, i doubt there is, or will be, a musician that can compare. and yes, i am an idiot.
but that wasnt the point of this thread. im not saying "yeah, simple plan, good charlotte and avril rock!" in fact, i personally think they suck. i think those where record deals stolen from artists out there who actually do have talent, that actually can write.
but my point was that i dont see why people cant just deal with the fact that music is music, whether you consider it real or not. there are people out there who love it, yeah, you hate it. so what? does it make someone a poser (poseing as what im still confused about, perhaps thats what you should be explaining) simply for listening to something that is what you consider crap?

I just listened to Nirvana for the first time ever about two weeks ago. Needless to say, I'm a convert.

There has never been a band as good since...now it's all about promoting little rich kids with no talent. Why must the RIAA rule music here in America?

I was listening to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for about an hour today while I was posting on WTF and looking at computer parts for my shitbox. The song just never gets old. It's the first song I've heard where it's just as fun to listen to now as it was when I first got it...in fact, it's better.

I downloaded Me Inside by Slipknot the same day, and that wore off within three days...lost all of it's juice.

We need more talent in the musical genepool.
