Music Education Majors: What are your classes like?

I'm writing a story where the main character is in his third year of college to become a music teacher. He plays violin and probably a couple other instruments (from what I've heard, that's pretty much standard/required for this?) so my guess is he'd lean more toward strings classwork, if that makes a difference. I'm probably not going to have too many scenes where he's actually in class, but still need to know a few things to get a feel for where he'd be coming from and what sort of environment he'd be in. I was in orchestra in high school but never took a college music class so I'm not exactly sure what to expect.Any help you can give me is GREATLY appreciated.

1. What are some of your course titles?
2. What kinds of assignments do you have?
3. What are your rehearsals like? Do you play in a full orchestra setup, individually, in quartets/trios, or a little of all these? If so, please give a general idea what % of your time is spent in each type of rehearsal.
4. What sort of input do you get from your professors? How often do you get one-on-one time?
5. What sort of facilities do your classes take place in? Are all classes in a music hall, or are some in regular class rooms/halls? Do you have music labs, and if so, what sorts of things do you do there? (By lab I mean computer recording and editing equipment or programs to compose music) How are these places organized/laid out?
6. Do you have any fun/interesting stories that might be fun to incorporate? What sorts of in-jokes do you have?
7. Is there anything else you can think of that might be useful or good for me to know?
8. Finally, what exactly is your major called/what is your focus?

Thank you SO MUCH to anyone who replies to this.
