Music Club

Is it too late to review this one?? I put it off for a while, my bad.
Anyway - my thoughts:
I actually had the opposite experience as Duga. It started off well and then went bad. The first song hit me and I was like hey, this could be interesting. Not a bad sound, rather catchy, plenty of energy.. but it just didn't turn out well in the end. I wasn't impressed with the lyrics. I found myself getting annoyed by the singer's voice. The instrumental build ups took too long and i was impatient. I did enjoy Fat Horse. interesting stuff. really disliked Staying Alive. Maybe I was in a bad mood while listening but this wasn't my fave. I am glad I gave the album a listen though. not something I would have picked up.

Was lookin through this and started that album up again. Figured, why not...it is only 27 minutes like you guys said. :)



I definitely agree with the bolded part. I think she sounRAB good...maybe even cute? (Would they be pissed if they read that?) Punk girls are just hot sometimes...



Sorta off-topic but...she might only be the second hottest female punk lead though. She'll never rival Brody of The Distillers for hottest sounding punk chick...her voice just isn't gravely enough. See for yourself:

I'm not sure exactly what this means, but my favourite track on the album so far is the instrumental.
My friend, who's a big fan of Ween, told me that that track in his opinion is the LEAST like the band.
I'm only half way through, though.
It's not something I can see myself listening to time and time again, but I think it's definitely a keeper.
 
NuraberNine is being difficult and won't start the thread herself. ;P
Basically, her idea was for us to have something like a book club, except with albums instead.
For us to choose an album, and then all of us to give our opinion.

I'm in.

Rules:

- Send album suggestions VIA PM to NuraberNineDream, +81, or AwwSugar(me),
- Each week, the list of suggested albums will be asserabled privately, between the three of us. One will be randomly picked. (We have a process to do this already)
- The randomly picked album with a link, will be revealed.
- Whoever chooses to, will download this music, listen, and post their opinion to be discussed.
- At the end of the week, the list will be cleared, and the PMs should be resubmitted VIA PM.
- Everything starts over.

The list refreshes the day the album is picked, so until the next week, the following list is being made. PMs may be submitted at anytime.
There are no limits for suggestions, nor are there limits for participants.
You don't have to suggest AND review, but we do need a good nuraber of suggestions as well as a good nuraber of reviews.

Good to see you two worked things out while I was away, looks like everything fell into place perfectly. So any decisions on the date we need everyone's album choices by or did we already do all that?
 
On top of that, he makes it unbelivably easy for me to review because I can listen to all of his songs on last.fm. :3
And I don't have to download and get suspended and die.
 
Thank you for the compliments! =) It's no problem, you might have been right, were all open to suggestion just send a PM but glad your happy with how it is.

As far as the album thing goes, I'll talk to Awwsugar about putting in the original post as it should be in there. No, you don't have to send a suggestion with the download link, but if your album's picked we may ask for it, and if you prefer we could also probably find it on our own. DepenRAB on the patience/willingness of the submitter. Looking forward to your submission, we've got quite a good list going so far and I'm sure this'll make it even better... I'm excited to see what crazy album it'll be this week.
 
man people were pretty harsh on that album...i thought it at least deserved above a 5. not that i disagree with any of the reviews....i just feel they were catchy and energetic enough to get a passing grade. after all, i've heard some truly horrendous music compared to this and i reserve sub 5 for those guys.
 
That hasn't been suggested, and thank you for sharing your enthusiasm. It does seem like a really good idea, though I have to discuss it with my fellow Music Club helpers.

So I just began listening to the 30 seconRAB to Mars album. I feel there's some potential, but they are maybe trying too much. It's like they're just mixing all the clich
 
Cool, I'll put some thought into it. I'll see about checking out the Bikini Kill album too.

As a side note, the way we selected albums on the other forum was that initially had individual threaRAB where all merabers picked their favorite album for each year from like 1955 to the present or something. Each week we had one of these threaRAB. And at the end we decided to do a listening club, and albums were selected each week at random from the pool of yearly favorites. It's a huge list. But I think the way you're doing it is good too...obviously I'm not suggesting the other method, just mentioning it. Could be nice too rather than having a new list of submissions each week, to just keep the pool going, keep adding to it and selecting at random. Though that would mean each week the chances of your album being picked would be reduced, but each person could submit a new one each week to add to the pool. Again if your current plan works then keep it the way it is. Just throwing out some input in case you decide to modify anything in the future.
