Muscle knows how to put it down to the torque, e.g. 0-60 may be a lot faster as they have more torque and bhp normally.
Whereas Jap cars are known to be light and/or made from plastic panels on pure sport cars, such as the nissan skyline r34 gtr vspec II. This was the fastest Japanese production car, and the fastest muscle car was a 1997 Viper GTS with six-speed v10, pure muscle.
Depends what your into really if your thinking of buying one. japanese cars really on their ECU and weight distribution/ or lack of it, for quick acceleration, whereas muscles rely on brute muscle.
So i'd say they're near enough the same, depending what make/model.
