Mugen vs Jin - who would win in their duel?

They never got to decide who would beat the other. Who do you think would win against the other in a fith to the death?

I have to agree. Although their fighting styles are completely different, in the end i think it would come down to who used the environment better.
e.g - throwing dirt in the others eye's, kicking a rock at them for a moment of distraction, something like that.

They are both very evenly matched and this is a hard one. If one came out on top, luck would play a big part.

I would say the complete opposite of that. Sure, his style is something different than typical sword fighting, but that could be an advantage to him. He uses break dancing. Basically, everything is completely random. But because he's not using a specific style of fighting that's common to most other people, they might not be able to predict his moves so easily. I say it works to his advantage. I'm not saying it would allow him to win or not. Jin is definitely someone you would't want to mess with. He just has too much experience under his belt. I'd say the fight would last for quite some time and the winner is uncertain. Probably a tie of some sort. Or maybe they'd both just kill eachother. xD

This probably belongs in the 'versus' section, but I'll roll with it.

My vote would go for Mugen. Jin has the edge from a technical standpoint, but what Mugen lacks in skill he makes up for in his creativity and unpredictability. I also picture Mugen as having more heart and being more persistent.

I've got to admit though, my opinion is biased because Mugen just happens to be a much cooler character.

In my opinion, Jin would win. And for the very reason that Haku and Foxy said that Mugen would win.

It's been a long time since I watched the anime, but if I recall correctly (and evidently I do) Mugen uses an incredible, flashy style, deliberately making excessive and inefficient movements with the intent to disorient and distract.

Yes... against an ordinary opponent, this seeming randomness would be an advantage. But against Jin, who has seen Mugen fight before, has fought by his side and I think even fought against him at some point, it's a disadvantage. Mugen's movement are not new or unfamiliar to Jin, he is used to Mugen's fighting style by now. And so instead of being distracted or disoriented, he would simply strike with efficiency where Mugen is not. Mugen would lose... assuming that they are both equally skilled at their own styles of fighting, and that they are both familiar with each other's style, Jin would win because his style is more efficient.

You could argue that Mugen would just be less flashy, then. But then Mugen would be fighting in a way that he is not used to, and he would be making a conscious effort to do so... this will still give Jin an advantage, because Jin would be fighting naturally.

I like Mugen better than Jin, but if there would be a victor I'd have to give it to Jin. As Fly said, Jin's style is efficient with little to no wasted movements and Mugen's is flashy with lots of wasted movement. Although his reflexed and speed are great, I think it's the wasted movements that would be his downfall.

It's hard to say, but I suppose Jin could win the duel. He was better trained, and prepared for unpredictable and dirty moves. But the most important was Jin could always stay cool and calm, on the other hand Mugen was easily affected by emotions, and in spite of his stamina and courage he would make mistake.

U have a good point Mugen might get tired from all his extra movements.... But then again he might pull a move that might suprise Jin, a move so flashy that even Jin could not expect or react too.

Hmm.... I would say Jin.

As stated above Mugen's style has a lot of wasted effort and Jin hardly wastes a move. Mugen would probably end up losing by a hair just by waste of stamina although he has lots of it. tough call.
