Muffler rubber mount fix

Years ago we used to squirt brake fluid on the upper control arm bushings on Chevys....they had a BAD habit of squeaking. Like you, we kept it in an old squirt oil can. Worked like a charm then.

My problem is a rattle and not the squeak. There was a similiar, but louder rattle comming from the same side last year, back then it was due to the baffle being loose. I repaired that problem over the winter. This new rattle is not as bad, but it still takes away from the solid tone of the muffler. My dealer suggested I put some oil on the rubber mounting. I tried using WD-40 and it works for a while, but after riding for an hour or so, the rattle returns, perhaps a heavier weight oil is needed or some other sort of lubricant that will not burn away under the heat of the exhaust. If that does not bring a permanant solution, I am going to try the aftermarket mounts suggested above.

Squeak was driving me nuts... like all here, I thought it was right front... turned out to be left exhaust rubber mount... sprayed with silicone and squeak gone... now to get the new ones and be done with this... now on to rattles... it never ends... lol
