Vincennes crew aren't in jail? After all, they blew up a civilian airliner and killed 20 more people than at Lockerbie. The plane was in Iranian airspace, in a designated air corridor, climbing away from the ship, and transmitting a "commair" signal to the ship's friend-or-foe electronic traffic ID system. The ship was in Iranian waters (illegally) and the ship's captain had been criticized by other captains as being too aggressive. Yet these cretinous imbeciles were given combat medals when they returned home. The people who bleat about Libya welcoming al-Megrahi home clearly have VERY short memories. Only a set of total morons could have mis-identified the plane. Unless of course, it wasn't a mistake.

The plane did not respond to the ten calls by the Vincennes because they targeted the calls (which were not made on air traffic control frequencies) at "incoming unidentified aircraft"; 655 was clearly visible on EVERY other ship's radar, and they believed the calls were being directed at an air force jet. 655 WAS NOT squawking a military ID, the imbeciles aboard the Vincennes had mistakenly ID the plane as an F-14. Every other US ship in the area had managed to ID the plane as civilian except these fools. You really should check your facts before making yourself look so foolish.
