I have a el cheapo DVD recorder I got from Coles nearly 1 year ago. A 160gig HDD DVD recorder. About 3 months ago, the blue "on" light went half pinkish and half blue, almost purple. The unit started to switch itself off after exactly 30 seconds. Now the light is pretty much red and the unit will not switch on at all and the time/hello does not show at all. I am not keen on taking it back to Coles for a refund as it still has my homevideos on the 160gig HDD, and also a disc is loaded in there. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this, I have read forums where people went back to Coles and handed it in, but can it be repaired? I read someone had replaced a capacitor and that had fixed it, but then same forum talked about discs not being read, so I gather it started but was corrupt? Anyone had this occur to them or have a suggestion. I'd rather not lose my home videos and be able to retrieve them, I gather they dont repair just replace or refund?
