MRSA does anyone know about this blood infection

My mom was acting out of it for 3 days, then was hallucinating, uncordinated, finally ambulace came, the drs are saying she has a severe
urinary tract infection and has gotten into her bloodstream, they have had her on IV antibotics for a good 3days, they said she should be getting somewhat better, but her frame of mind is still not any better, they are sending in a NERO dr, not sure why..... I pray she will get better, she is 70yrs old, doesn't have any ohter medical problems, does anyone know about this?? why would she still be out of it, what are her chances?? she is my best friend, I will die without her!! plus I can't go and see her, cause I am sick myself with cough and sore throat, and she is in isolation... please someone let me know.. MRSA is a virulent staph infection that tends to be resistant to most antibiotics. It is a very serious infection. Urinary tract infections in the older population tend to be far more serious than in younger folks. Such infections can have neurological implications which is probably what is causing at least part of her disorientation and why they have a neurologist looking at her.
 
I've had MRSA, which is one nasty thing. It's highly contagious, which is why she is in isolation. It will take time for her to kick it. The UTI is the bigger reason she is disoriented. She probably got dehydrated, which helped to bring on the UTI, which really wreaks havok in the older generation-especially women. If she suffers from any demential it will seem to escaberate it even more. Once the UTI gets under control, she will become mentally sharper-again, but to what extent you won't know. It may affect her mental capabilities to some extent, but you will have to wait and see how quickly she can pull herself out of it..
