Can anyone explain this to me?
MRI of c-spine c3-c4 minimal disc bulge and bilaterial uncovertabral joint hypertrophy c4-c5 minimal dics bulge and bilateral unconvertabral joint hypertrophy c5-c6 mild to maderate disc space narrowing Generalized disc osteophyte complex and bilateral unconvertabral joint hypertrophy produces a moderate central canal stenosis and a moderate right and milder left c6 neural foraminal stenosis
MRI Thoracic spine the vertabral bidies demonstrate grossly normal height and alignment. there is a small hemangloma within the t8 vertabral body. a superior endplate Schmorl's node is present at t8 and there is degenerative dics desease and a Sshmorl's node along the inferior endplate of t11. There is a shallow disc bulge at the t11-t12 disc space
MRI Lurabar spineL4-L5 Desiccation and decreased height of disc. Small central disc protrussion causing mild indentation upon the thecal sacL5-S1 Desiccation and decreased height of disc. Small central disc protrussion eextending into the anterior epidural fat. This contacts but does not deform the thecal sac.

I someone can help I'm lost I have no insurance and the dr. at the frwee clinic wants to send me to Charlettsville to Virginia University. He said he would not refer me to a specialist here because i have multiple areas in my back. Said I might want to sign up on disibility
Can someone please explain whats going on why i'm in so much pain, can't do my job(hair stylist)

Hi Violaln

"MRI of c-spine c3-c4 minimal disc bulge and bilaterial uncovertabral joint hypertrophy"

C3-C4 disk is bulging, and you have an overgrowth of bone in your uncovertabral joint, which are small projections of bone called the uncinate processes that occur in the lower five cervical vertebra.

"c4-c5 minimal dics bulge and bilateral unconvertabral joint hypertrophy"

same as level above.

"c5-c6 mild to maderate disc space narrowing Generalized disc osteophyte complex and bilateral unconvertabral joint hypertrophy produces a moderate central canal stenosis and a moderate right and milder left c6 neural foraminal stenosis"

disk has narrowed at this level, osteophytes are small bone spurs that form around the margins of the joints in your case they have formed around the edges of the disk on the vertebra. You have the uncovertebral joint hypertrophy at this level also this extra bony growth is causing a narrowing of your spinal canal, and a narrowing of your neural foramina, which are groves in the vertebra that your nerves coarse out of.

"MRI Thoracic spine the vertabral bidies demonstrate grossly normal height and alignment. there is a small hemangloma within the t8 vertabral body."

Not sure about the spelling but a hemangioma is an abnormal growth of the blood vessels in and around the vertebra. usually harmless

"a superior endplate Schmorl's node is present at t8 and there is degenerative dics desease and a Sshmorl's node along the inferior endplate of t11. There is a shallow disc bulge at the t11-t12 disc space"

A Schmorl's node is when is when the top or bottom of a disk has ruptured and a piece of the disk has penetrated into the vertebra. degenerative disc disease is a narrowing or drying out of the disk could be bulging as well but they would usually say that if it was.

"MRI Lurabar spineL4-L5 Desiccation and decreased height of disc. Small central disc protrussion causing mild indentation upon the thecal sac"

At this level you have disk Desiccation which is a drying out of the disk and a small bulge which is pressing on the thecal sac which is a tough merabrane that surrounRAB the spinal cord.

L5-S1 Desiccation and decreased height of disc. Small central disc protrussion eextending into the anterior epidural fat. This contacts but does not deform the thecal sac.

Pretty much the same as the level above.

Good luck violaln post again if you have anymore questions

Thank u olddog for responding. Is the doctor right about my condition? He says I'll be in pain the rest of my life. I'm not able to do my job and I struggle with house work. Am I going to be like this the rest of my life? Should I sign up for disability. DDD is in my family. Most everyone is disabled. I am the youngest. I'v had back issues for years, it comes and goes but thia time it hasn't gotten any better. Its been three months. I'm even having problems with my arms and legs.I'v lost strenght in my arms, no cordination always dropping things. I can't function. Please if you could give me advise I'd appreciate it. I am going to a free clinic (no insurance). I just don't know what to do. The doctors thinks surgery is not an option because there is more than one area. I can handle the back pain its the neck pain that I can't handle. Thank you in advance.

Hi again olddog I am 43. Not old enough to feel like this(ha ha). No joke I feel 80 some days. I just feel so disfunctional, like I said I struggle doing house work. I'm a hair stylist and I miss my job dearly. But you know I have been struggling for years with my back at work. I just kept going. Not this time the trampaline did me in!!!! 10 min on that, and that was it . I realy appreciate your advice. I wish I had all the answers. I think once I get a second oppion I'll maybe feel a little better (mentaly anyway). I have so many questions and no answers. What do you realy think about my MRI results?

Hi again Violaln can i ask how old you are? i think you should sign up for disability as soon as possible. Try to find the best doctors you can to treat you. Its difficult to say anything definite about surgery, and doctors opinions about surgery i know so little about your case, and i am only a lay person, but i can say with some confidence your doctor has a point because you have problems at different levels you are difficult to treat with surgery, if you only had one bad joint they could probably just fuse it. That does not mean that you cant be helped, or that some kind of surgery may be of help. I would suggest you try to educate your self about your condition so you can ask doctors the right questions, and understand their answers better, and be in a better position to make the right decisions, not to try and be smart to doctors, and be a know it all. (i am sure you are not like that)

Some kind of exercise could be helpful though difficult you need professional advise here. You may be offered pain medication good pain medication clinics think of pain management in the long term and, can avoid problems such as addiction so don't be scared to take pain medication if you have exhausted all the other options.

Maybe someone else who is a local can tell you about the specific clinics, and hospitals in your area and who the best people are to see.

Wishing you a pain free day and good luck keep in touch if you like.

You have problems throughout your whole spine, your neck is probably the worst. One problem is that degenerative disk disease, and degenerative joint disease of the spine can often be progressive. Treatment is often aimed at halting progression, and managing the condition, but that does not mean your health cant be improved. I know what you mean about feeling dysfunctional back problems really make day to day living difficult. There are some things i can talk about in detail and be very sure of but telling you how bad your mri is and what is going to happen from here is not one of them. SounRAB like you are doing the right thing by making it a priority to get good medical advise, and treatment.

Your treatment could be a corabination of exercise, therapy, medication, and surgery. I wonder if the trampoline caused your schmorl's node, anyway good luck post again when you find out more if you like and stay off the trampoline;)

You may also want to post on the Spinal Cord board as that deals more with cervical spine issues (for that part of any symptoms you are having). Do whatever you can to get a consultation with an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon.
