Hello,
I have horrible pain in my lower back and hip area as well as other pain all over which gave two doctors the impression that I have fibromyalgia. I had a back injury from falling down steps at work and was originally told that I had a lower back sprain/strain and a contusion. However, the pain in the back area has done nothing but got worse and I have pain in my body that I can not manage with whatever I try to do. I went to see several doctors, the orthopedic doctor ordered an MRI and the results are as follows:
Conclusion:
1. Moderate spondylosis with severe uncovertebral joint arthrosis, left greater than right, and superimposed left foraminal protrusion producing moderate left lateral recess and left neaural foraminal stenosis with probable contact of the existing C6 and descending C7 nerve roots.
2. Mild degenerative disc disease and uncovertebral joint arthrosis at the C4-5 level.
The Ortho doctor says there will be a test and he would also like for me to meet and consult with a surgeon. He feels I should have some type of surgery on my neck. I certainly will get another opinion.

My questions are: 1) What does the results mean? 2.) If my pain originated in my lower back & hip, how and why do I hurt every where else? 3.) If the low back aches, how and why would the neck create the other body problems as the Ortho doctor is suggesting? 4.) Will I get better and how soon?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

How long ago was your accident? Do you have pain in your thurab or middle fingers?

Did you have a MRI of your entire spine or the cervical spine area?

Did you have symptoms of fibromyalgia prior to the fall?

If you could answer these questions, someone might be better able to answer the questions at the end of your post.

Did your pain ORIGINATE in your lower back and hip??

Hello tetonteri66,
The accident happened in Nov 2009. I do not have pain in my fingers at all.
I am assuming the MRI was of the cervical spine area, I don't know the difference between the two. I assume the cervical area because the Ortho doctor says he would rather explore other possibilities instead of tagging me with fibromyalgia.
No, I did not have any symptoms of fibromyalgia prior to falling. I started noticing all the other strange pains
afterwarRAB almost a year after the fall.
Yes, all the pain I feel did originate in the low back and hip area. This is why I am so confused and frustrated with all that is going on with me. I am experiencing pain after pain all over now and am not getting any understanding as to why migraine headaches, fatigue, body stiffness and pain, and muscle aches can be happening when originally I only had the low back pain that shiuld have went away from what I have been told because it was suppose to be a sprain/strain. I need to get back to normal fast and to my original liveliness. Any suggestions or explanations are gratefully appreciated.
