I had a MRI on my Lurabar spine, I got the results but dont undertstand them.

It says--

FINDINGS: Alignment and bony structures: preserved alignment and marrow. Conus mediullaris: Normal signal and caliber. Paraspinal soft tissues: Right upper pelvic susceptibility artifact likely related surgical clips.

Findings by level:

T12/L1 through L2/3: Normal

L3/4 through L5/S1: Mild facet hypertrophy. No stenosis.

IMPRESSION: Caudal Lurabar mild facet hypertrophy. No stenosis or neural impingement.

I was in a car accident over a year ago and am in pain all the time.. If anyone can help me with understanding these results please HELP and thanks in advanced.

short version is the facet joints (this is where part of the vertibrae meet and slide along each other) at those levels have some wear. its more or less normal and happens with age.

sometimes it can cause pain but usually not unless its severe.

hypertrophy is termed as "enlargement". Your facet joints at those levels is somewhat arthritic.

As to whether or not that is due to aging of those facets or from the accident.. is unknown. The accident may have had nothing to do with the hypertrophy and is of natural cause, and the accident just happened to aggrevate the area and bring attention to it.
