I can't understand my MRI report.
It says L1-2 normal
L2-3normal
L3-4 normal
L4-5 normal
L5-S1: There is disc desiccation and discogenic change. There is a broad-based right paracentral disc herniation, which posteriorly displaces the S1 nerve root on the right and causes right lateral recess compromise. There is also some generalized disc bulging and there is neural canal narrowing bilaterally, right greater than left. Disc causes some mild mass effect on the thecal sac. No central stenosis is seen.

Please tell me what this means?

It sounRAB like you have some nerve compression. Do you have sciatica or pain down you legs from your butt down the back of your thighs and/or feet nurabness or tingling? Or do you just have back pain? Either way you may need a good surgeon to assess the MRI for you if the pain you have is getting worse. If not some more conservative treatment may suffice. A good pain specialist or physio may also be able to explain your MRI to you. Good luck. Allan.
