mp3 phone with ipod audio quality

i know its difficult to compare specially when we dont compare any specific phone to any specific ipod model, but generally with current generation of phones and with current generation of ipod, how do these two compare with eachother (keeping only audio quality in mind).
and based only on audio quality which phone do you recommend? (around 250$)
 
My Rokr has excellent audio quality, through both headphones and the built in speakers, as did my SE S710. My Rokr is modded, but my Sony wasnt. I would imagine that the newer Walkman or Rokr series phones would be right in the area of what you are looking for. I believe that the new Walkman series can also support up to a 4gb memory stick also.
