...What are my options? The model apartment we looked at was very nice. We signed a lease about a month ago. Today we went to see the apartment we are to move into in two days. Here is a list of things we saw wrong:
Old carpet: just cleaned and smells of chemicals and something else, pet or smoke not sure which as the cleaning chemicals attempt to mask the smell. The apartments say the only change out carpet every 7 years. Yikes.
A toilet seat which looked like it came from a condemned house. The paint was faded on the rim. Apartment are suppose to be only 4 years old. Not sure how this happened. Also there was pee in the toilet.
Black scuffs on the walls.
Broken glass on the patio.
A ceiling fan that wobbled when turned on.
The biggest thing is the carpet. When we spoke to the apartments they seemed very reluctant to put in new carpet. They also said it cost $3000 to put in new carpet in our two bedroom apt. Wow.
I have a young daughter who will be crawling on the carpet. I need advise how should I approach this?
