Moving house in a car with my fish. How?

Our fish are 2 goldfish.
We have a big aquarium made of glass, and a plastic one which is a lot lighter. Our original idea was to transport them to their old plastic tank and fill it up to a low level and rap some plastic around the top.

Will this be suitable for the fish? Is there a completely different way you have suppose to transport fish?

Thanks. (The journey will only take 15 minutes). And if we are going to take them in the small aquartium should we hand hold it? Should we keep the plants in there?

Water weights a lot more than you think, and moving water in a tank has to many problems. The best way to move fish is to go to the fish store and ask for a few baggies that they use to put fish in for transport to your house.

Put Tank water in the bag and add the fish be sure you have an air supply in the bag. Tie the top of the bag with a rubber band and set them in a dry bucket. Take some of your tank water with you in a bucket so you can set back up faster at the new house.

Fish always travel better in bags than a sloshing fish tank even if it is small. Better safe than sorry.
