movies that could have been classics if it wasn't for the....awful soundtracks

i'm not referring to songs or musicals, just referring to film scores
eg soundtrack for jaws by john williams enhanced the film greatly
whereas the soundtrack for harry potter, just ruins the film entirely
i really wish dvd's gave us the option of switching off the music

I dunno the music on Full Metal Jacket is representative to the time of the Vietnam war...

I love the score from the HP movie... I played it in band. However it is disappointing its just re used material for the sequels.

Incidental music in films plays a major part in it's overall effect that the film has on you. It really can make or break a movie, turning what would otherwise be a cheesy film into an absolute gripping classic.

Here's some of my fav's:

Alien - huge orchestration but very subtley used to perfection.

The Thing (Carpenters) - very simplistic theme used brilliantly.

Bladerunner - the music style blenRAB well with the look of the film and it's editting.


Oh, and that's 1000 and counting.
