I live in Southern Cali and have recently gained an interest in biking again after having discovered a few local trails.
Since I live in suburbia, I was thinking a Hybrid bike would be the best choice. However, the local trails are not paved, they are mostly dirt and lightly rocky.
I intend to ride around my neighborhood and also on the nearby trails.
Should I get a Hybrid or Mountain bike? I was also thinking on getting a mountain bike, but purchasing tires similar to hybrid bikes to change when I don't plan on going to the trails... I will go to my local bike store to see what their advice is as well.
Any suggestions?
The local trails are not extremely rough. Some are like dirt trails at parks. However, there are other trails that have small streams going through them, medium sized wholes and rocks around it and can get moderately rough.
I'm not planning on going to any type of hardcore mountain biking, at least not in the near future.

* Holes instead of wholes, sorry, typo and double post.
