Hi, i am having problems with my mountain bike, what it is that every time i push hard on the pedals to increase my speed i hear a cluck every time and if i push hard it seems to slip and its hard to cylce anywhere, i was told it could possibly be the rear cassette. Also the grip says that the bike gear is at 3 out of 3, even though the chain is on the middle rail (if that makes sense), the bike shifts down to 1 but when you go to 2 it sounds like it is hit the front derailleur. Sorry for poor explanation and could someone please help me.

You need to adjust the derailleurs. Watch these video's and do not touch the screws at all. The barrel adjuster for the front derailleur will be on the left shifter.

Gears need setting up properly, take to halfords if unsure how to do it. put it in gear and check if the chain is being fouled by the front derallieur as under heavy strain ie pedelling hard it would make this noise and even jump the chain hence the gear shift number issue, hope this helps good luck
