At that price range you're pretty much limited to a big box store bike. My advice is to visit your local bicycle shop and see what they have. You may find a deal on a close out or used model. Also, you get much better service at your LBS than a Mart store.

I'm looking to buy a good mountain bike for going around and most of my town is on a mountain so it's all hills even when it looks like flat road it's still elevated. I was wondering what the right mountain bike i would need for biking around . more or less gears? etc. i'm going for the price range of around $100-$200 at most. any info is appreciated.
