...road and trail in winter .? I am looking at the Ride to work scheme £1000 to spend in halfords here are my choices that I like
Gt I drive has great shocks ect as Im not upgrading anything .
Specialized pitch comp seems great frame but no lock outs
Specialized Xc comp Lock out but everybody favours Pitch ?
 
The GT is more of a downhill bike, not much for all around.

I'd go with th Specialized XC w/lockout as that will be very good all around, not as heavy & easier to go uphill on.

They're all good bike, though. Whatever you buy, get it at a local shop. No matter how good it is, you'll need some adjustment & nothing beats an experienced helper when you have problems.
 
I have a Raw2 by Team Saracen and it has served me well for a number of years, and carries all the qualities you are looking for.
