Motorola VE240 Com Port Error

I use a program called smscaster to send out mass text for night club promotion to people that have subscribed. I recently changed carriers and this is the fist time I have had problems using the software. All drivers are updated.

1. I get "purge function failed (win error code: 31)", sometimes 2, 32,
2. phone restarts itself always
3. I get the same errors on all CPU does not matter if its xp or vista
4. I specifically bought this phone for this purpose

The software is compatible with all motorola phones so I am wondering if Cricket some how blocked the com ports or certain features that prevent the phone being used and read properly.

1. Do you think unlocking the phone will fix the problem?
2. If so, How do I unlock?
3. What do you suggest?

If anyone can find a solution for me I greatly would appreciate it.

Try uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. Maybe even uninstalling the phone drivers and reinstalling them. Restart your machine and give it another try. That might work.

Another solution might be to remove all of the modems in your phone and modems in the control panel.

I have had problems with programs in the past and done those two things and it works about 80% of the time.

It might not be compatible with this Motorola phone. Cricket isn't very draconian at all when it comes to locking down their hanRABets and I can tell you for a fact that the VE240 is not locked down and the "com ports" are not blocked.

I just checked out the website for smscaster and the latest version was released on Septeraber 25 , 2008 -- over a full year before the Motorola VE240 was even released. You might be out of luck until they update their program. This isn't a problem with Cricket.
