motorola triumph question?

i got it today and all day i only have had 1 bar out of 4 of signal even now..i live in a very good area and i believe the connection should be stronger. im from queens NY..can there be something wrong with the phone? i even restarted it. i turned on airplane mode then i turned it off someone told me it will help..it didnt do anything
