motorola droid recovery mode help?

ok so my cousin put a passcode on his droid and forgot it and so i told him to go in recovery mode by pushing x and holding the power button and he did that and then the watermark/exclamation mark inside a triangle thing sign next to the droid came up so what do you do when that sign comes up i left the droid on like that for 45 minutes and it just shows the sign next to the droid still what do i do please help
