From what I've seen, you cannot connect to HWVSP using a P3 Kernel, so if you are using that you'll have to switch to Chevy kernel or something other than P3 in order to connect to QPST or CDMA workshop.

Az I said in my last post... I executed Autostart.sh through Root Explorer. NOTHING happens. I think I would have to Push the wap/mms files one more time, to get it to work... but this Kernel won't let me. For now, I am back on Bugless Beast.

In case anyone is interested you don't need to install a full ROM to get iptables. I used SirPsycoS recovery to backup my Droid when I had Smoked Glass v6 installed and then I restored everything except the boot.img back to the default 2.1 stock OS. Note that you might run into a small issue with the tiwlan_drv.ko but it's already been posted how to fix that. So if you want stock 2.1 with a custom ROM you can do it that way. I still have the custom SG boot.img file. This also works if you want stock 2.1 but wish to overclock the cpu since the overclocking feature is in the custom kernel, just install the ROM with the kernel you want and then back up the phone with SirPsychoS recovery menu and you'll get the break down of the ROM: boot, misc, data, system, cache, etc. The system gets stored as a .zip file so you can extract any custom files like iptables from it. I don't know if 2.2 uses a different kernel version but if it doesn't than this should work with it as well.

Ive been thinking about making a custom rom for Cricket. Yes, I know there is already one. I would make a stock rom, with a custom kernal with overclock and iptable support. Add a few apps like Root Explorer, ConnectBot, SetCPU, Autostart, etc. Then save it as a nandroid backup. All you would need to do is flash recovery sbf, restore nandroid, manually program, and edit the EVDO tab in CDMA WS. Would be like a 20 min flash.

Well, those apps were for my own personal rom. For customers, it would be Autostart and Astro. Technically SetCPU is free for XDA members. The one on the market is really for donations. But I wouldnt put that in my customer's rom anyways. And ConnectBot is useless to the common user. Hell, I only use it for testing on the fly. Otherwise, I use adb commands.

I've gotten the complete flash, custom recovery and custom ROM included, down to about 25 minutes. I play with my phone WAY too much. What is this ConnectBot you speak of?

Everyone with the know-how should download the FroYo leak. There is currently a 2nd leak out on DF and MDW. Also, there have been 2 seperate baseband leaks, including today, which has the .43.01P. I've actually got full bars in my house. One thing with the FroYo ROMs--adb remount doesn't work, so pushing the wap/mms files is no go. You'll have to add them manually through root explorer or any other similar file explorer. Good luck.

Im gonna switch to froyo, but I am gonna wait till some nice custom roms come out. Really want AdamZ to take the froyo leak and run with it. :)

Right now I'm using a 1.2GHz 5step P3 kernel. P3 kernels are standard with the FroYo releases, but apparently with the 2nd release, everyone is able to use whatever kernel they want. I'll more than likely make my way to a Chevy sooner or later.

Download root explorer (google is your friend), place the wap/mms files in your SDcard, and you can use root explorer to move autostart.sh to /data/opt, u2nl to /system/bin, and Telephony.db (if you use that method over manual APNs) to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/. I'll make a screencast of root explorer right now. I got nothing to do.

*edit* I've made a very crappy video briefly going over how to push wap/mms files manually into their proper dirs, including setting permissions.
