Motorola Cliq sim card help?

Okay so i got a new motorola cliq 2 days ago. It has been working just great. Today i took the sim card out and put it in a different phone that i had to cop down some contacts onto a peice of paper. When I put the sim card back into the cliq it could not tell that the sim card was even in the phone. I took it out and put it back in several times to make sure it was in correctly and every time, it still said there was no sim card. What can i do to fix this?
 
2 things. Insert the sim back n the old device. Turn it on. Wait tell you get the home screen let it fully load up and then turn the device off with the power button. Thats should work but if it dont follow the first steps. Turn the device off on the other device. Then insert the insert the sim card in your phone and power it back on. Thats should work. Points please!!!!
