Hi i was given a old 77 xs7502d as my first motorcycle and my uncle that gave it to me told me that the thing that keeps the timing chain tight my need to be replaced exactly what is that lol or if hes wrong could anyone give me some information i konw where it is i just need to know whats wrong and what i need to replace thanks

Being your first motorcycle, I do not expect you to carry out any repairs yourself. If it idles and runs well, you can ignore the timing chain. However if you find a lot of unnecessary noise coming from the top of your cylinder head, then probably it is time you took it to a professional who will help you to do the needful. In later models a self adjusting mechanism was introduced which took up the slack in a worn chain automatically.
